Monty Jack

Monty Jack is a self-taught artist hailing from Indianapolis, IN, who works in charcoal, acrylic, and primarily oil paint. His work is often inspired by dreams, art history, music, and the absurdity of the mundane. His paintings combine surreal imagery, vivid colors, and theatrical black borders, making each piece feel like a staged world or artifact. By beginning pieces with familiar imagery and shifting them into stranger territory, he creates scenes where beauty, discomfort, and curiosity coexist. Across his work, Monty is interested in how familiar things become strange, and how strange things can reveal something deeper in the viewer. He hopes to fill the world with tiny mythologies and allow others to find comfort in the absurd.

And here he is eating campfire spaghetti.
